Morning crashes slow east Anchorage commutes
A pair of wrecks in east Anchorage Tuesday morning were briefly blocking traffic, with no immediate word from police on any injuries.
Tudor Road’s westbound lanes at Campbell Airstrip Road were closed by a single-vehicle crash shortly after 8 a.m., with officers at the scene diverting traffic to Baxter Road.
Earlier Tuesday, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Elmore Road were closed eastbound and northbound by a collision at their intersection, police said at about 7:20 a.m., with traffic “backed up to Dowling Road.” The road had reopened by 8 a.m.
APD officials weren't immediately available Tuesday to discuss the crashes in greater detail.
The collisions came after a dusting of overnight snowfall, which left 1 to 2 inches of snow in the city’s eastern areas.
