The UAA Women's Basketball Team is in California, as the Seawolves take on GNAC rival Northwest Nazarene in the first round of the NCAA West Region.

Next season will start a bit early for the team, as the Seawolves are expected to hit the road for its biggest road trip ever during the summer. UAA has been invited to play in the BLIA Cup University Basketball Tournament in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, July 3 through 8.

Seawolves' head coach Ryan McCarthy cannot wait to go.

"I think Alaska's relationship with the Pacific Rim, with all the trade we do with them and everything, to get that cultural experience, I think it's going to be super positive for our ladies," McCarthy said by phone from the West Region.

This would be the first time the Seawolves ladies play outside North America.

However, the team should not pack its bags yet.

The Seawolves need to come up with the airfare for the trip, the tournament will cover the rest of the expenses. Learn more here.
