Police seek ‘person of interest’ in Bikini Babes barista robbery
Investigators trying to find those responsible for a February coffee-shop robbery in Anchorage caught on video are asking the public for help identifying a person seen in the area at the time.
APD spokeswoman Renee Oistad released a surveillance photo of a “person of interest,” taken Feb. 17 near the Bikini Babes Baristas shop at 335 Boniface Pkwy. The shop was robbed at gunpoint that afternoon, with employees posting video of an unnamed suspect and subsequently preparing themselves for any future robbery attempts.
“(D)etectives believe he may have information regarding the details of what happened,” Oistad wrote.
Police have made no arrests in the Bikini Babes robbery, Oistad said Tuesday, or another armed robbery earlier on Feb. 17 at West 27th Avenue tobacco shop Planet X in Spenard. She declined to say whether the cases were linked "prior to charges being filed."
Oistad wasn’t aware of any robberies similar to the February case targeting coffee shops in the three weeks since the baristas on Boniface were hit.
Anyone with information on the person’s identity is asked to call APD at 907-786-8900 and ask for Detective Niwa. Anchorage Crime Stoppers can also take tips on the case, at 907-561-STOP or through its website.
