Man wanted in connection with Anchorage shooting
Anchorage Police are asking for the public's help to find a man they believe is connected to a shooting that sent a woman to the hospital with a gunshot wound in January.
APD spokesperson Renee Oistad said they're looking for 22-year-old Elijah C. Ramirez. On January 28, police responded to the 5900 block of East 6th Avenue after hearing a report of shots fired.
"An investigation of that crime revealed that shots were fired at a residence from a vehicle being driven down the street," Oistad wrote in a Nixle Thursday night. "22-year-old Elijah C. Ramirez emerged from the targeted house, ran down the street after the fleeing suspect vehicle, and fired several shots."
APD didn't find any victims at the scene, however, they later found out a woman went to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
"About 45 minutes later, an adult female arrived at a local hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound in the upper body," Oistad wrote. "Officers have determined she was inside the residence at the time the shots were fired and was struck."
Because of a domestic violence incident on January 1, Ramirez was not allowed back at the residence, according to Oistad.
A robbery assault detective obtained two arrest warrants for Ramirez on Thursday: violation of conditions of release, for being at the house on East 6th Avenue, and misconduct involving a weapon for shooting at a moving vehicle.
Police describe Ramirez as a 5-foot-5 male who is around 155 pounds.
The person responsible for the shooting at the East 6th Avenue residence has not been charged yet.
Anyone who may have information on Ramirez's whereabouts is asked to call Police Dispatch at 786-8900 (press “0” to speak with an operator).
