One tough kid: Kodiak cancer survivor and amputee teaches fellow students lesson of a lifetime
As she battled a rare bone cancer from the age of five, there were times Maddy Sickafoose’s family thought they were going to lose her. And when she beat the cancer, suddenly she faced a new challenge. At the age of thirteen, doctors amputated her arm, after it failed to heal from surgery years ago to remove a tumor.
In Part 2 of this week’s Frontiers, Maddy must reinvent herself at a difficult time in life, when no teenager wants to stand-out from the crowd.
