Juneau police have arrested a man in an assault Thursday night that sent the victim to a Seattle hospital for treatment.

River Eugene Parrish, 21, was arrested in the South Franklin Street attack on the 49-year-old victim, according to a statement from Juneau’s deputy police chief, David Campbell.

“The male victim reported that another male approached him and began punching him in the face,” Campbell wrote. “The incident was captured on a private video surveillance system and the suspect was identified as [Parrish].”

Medics first took the victim to Bartlett Regional Hospital with facial injuries, but he was subsequently medevaced to Seattle.

Police found Parrish near the Downtown Transit Center just before 6:30 a.m. Friday, and took him into custody for second-degree assault, as well as violating conditions of his release in an Oct. 30 assault case.

Parrish was held at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center without bail.
