The Department of Corrections says it had its sixth inmate death of the year.

Derrick Anthony Southhall, 41, died Wednesday at Providence Medical Center. He was taken there on October 6 from the Goose Creek Correctional Center.

DOC says his death does not appear to be suspicious.

Southhall has been in custody since March 17, 2016, for resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

No other details have been given including what led to his hospital visit and the cause of death.

Alaska State Troopers and the Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an investigation, as is standard procedure. The DOC's Professional Conduct Unit will also conduct an internal investigation.
