The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) was formed as part of the Department of the Interior in 2011. The Director of BSEE Scott Angelle joined Daybreak Wednesday to discuss the bureau's involvement in Alaska.

"Managing the safety aspects of the offshore drilling that goes on in America," Angelle said while describing the responsibilities of BSEE.

Angelle stated that his overall goal for his work in Alaska was to eventually reach Energy dominance, as opposed to dependence, as he saw it, in the country. He hopes that the Arctic will be instrumental in seeing that through to reality.

Because of this investment in Alaska that the BSEE has, Angelle described that safety was of utmost concern. Saying the state would ideally be operating with optimal equipment in the safest, most productive way possible.
