Over the weekend, Miss Alaska USA and Miss Alaska Teen USA were crowned. The honors went to Brooke Johnson and McKinley Wooten respectively.

"I have not taken it in yet, I'm still trying to just think about everything that is coming," said Brooke Johnson, Miss Alaska USA, reflecting on her recent win.

Brooke's platform is mental health and suicide awareness. She hopes to be able to get out into the community and empower young adults to be able to speak freely about their issues without any stigma attached.

McKinley Wooten, Miss Alaska Teen USA, hopes to bring more awareness to special needs children and adults. She has family members that have special needs and says that from her perspective, the way they sometimes are treated affects not only them but the people close to them as well.

Both of the title-holders described winning the pageant as a dream come true.
