A 29-year-old man’s body was found Monday evening by Bethel Police, who say there was no apparent foul play in his death but are seeking more details from the public.

Brandon Nicholai was found in the 1000 block of Mallard Lane at about 6:30 p.m., police said in a statement, after officers received a report of an unresponsive person.

Bethel’s Police Chief, Burke Waldron, said members of Nicholai’s family found him dead in a home. Police suspect alcohol was a factor in his death, due to the presence of empty alcohol containers inside.

“He hadn’t been seen or heard from in a day or two,” Waldron said. “As for when, within that day or two he passed [away], that’s for the [State Medical Examiner] to determine.”

Nicholai’s next of kin have been notified. His body will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for an autopsy.

Anyone with information on Nicholai’s death is asked to call police at (907) 543-3781.
