Brown Jug open-door burglary ends in 2 arrests
Two men were arrested early Thursday in a burglary at an Anchorage liquor store, after police said their story didn’t hold up to surveillance video.
An initial report of a security alarm just after 3:30 a.m. drew a police response to the warehouse location of Brown Jug, at 4140 Old Seward Hwy. An officer with the department’s K-9 unit found the suspects – Raymond Grant, 36, and Trent Semaken, 37 – outside the store with three 24-pack cases of beer and alcohol.
“The men told the officer they were kicked out of a nearby hotel and brought the cases with them,” Thim wrote. “When officers reviewed Brown Jug’s video surveillance, they observed the two men inside stealing the cases. The men gained entry into the warehouse through a side door that was slightly open.”
Both men were held at the Anchorage Jail on burglary charges.
