Recover Alaska: Helping Alaskans recovering from alcohol addiction for 'Recovery Month'
September is "Recovery Month" in Alaska. A month dedicated to helping those who suffer from alcohol addiction stay safe and sober, as well as assisting those who may be suffering from addiction transition to a sober lifestyle.
Tiffany Hall, executive director of Recover Alaska, details a number of ways in which September can be spent having fun all while remaining alcohol free.
One of the first things Recover Alaska encourages people to do is to try to have a dry weekend. That is a weekend-- from Friday night until Monday morning-- without drinking any alcohol. This is one of many challenges Recovery Alaska hopes people will undertake in September.
To assist in the recovery process, restaurants around Anchorage will be offering signature alcohol-free cocktails all September long. Some of these restaurants include South, Spenard Roadhouse, Ginger and Blues Central.
Recover Alaska is also hosting a free celebration and concert on Saturday, September 23, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Church of Love in Spenard.
