Friday on Daybreak, The Modern Savage came to rock out live for Mic Check in the Morning with a preview of their new album, “Subtle Advances.”

The Anchorage-based group is made up of five members who have all been together for about three years. They describe their sound as a blend of pop and rock. But female singer Jenni May says to watch out for some heavier stuff on the new album.

“Acoustically we get a little funkier,” she said. “But I would say to expect a little more rock when you listen to the recorded version.”

Animal Sounds Productions will host “Subtle Advances: The Modern Savage Album Release Party” on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Tap Root in Spenard. The event starts at 9 p.m. and will feature performances by The Modern Savage, Smile Ease, The Sweeteners and Alex The Lion.
