When it comes to her music, Tai Trujillo is an artist with three goals: Make you laugh, make you think and make you feel like you’re not alone.

A local singer songwriter whose influences include Stevie Wonder, Fiona Apple and Florence and the Machine, Trujillo performed live on Friday’s Daybreak for a Mic Check in the Morning.

On the show, she explained how she gets inspired to write.

“I usually feel a song before I write it,” she said. “I know that sounds cheesy, but I like to, if it’s strong enough of an emotion, I try to sit down and just — it’s a way to say what I want to say without getting in trouble for it, I guess.”

Currently Trujillo is working on her first album with Kurt Riemann at Surreal Studios. Because it’s still in the works, for now she says you can check out her music on her Facebook page: Tai Trujillo Music.
