A section of Spenard Road will be closed again to traffic for construction next week.

Crews will be paving the area between 26th Avenue and Hillcrest Drive overnight on Aug. 7 and 8. The road will close at 7 p.m. and re-open around 6 a.m. the next day.

Some of the businesses in the area are open during those hours and project manager John Smith says it will be accessible.

"We'll have a full compliment of flaggers and traffic control people out here to make sure that we're able to continue on with the paving, keep people safe and at the same time, minimize the impact to the local businesses," Smith said.

The Municipality of Anchorage wants to get this part of the road paved first because it is the primary access route for West High School. The City wants it to be ready for when school starts on Aug. 21.

Other sections of the road will be paved later, as the project progresses.
