Police say body found in Kincaid Park ‘does not appear suspicious’
Last updated at 5:38 p.m. on Sunday, April 9
The Anchorage Police Department is investigating the death of a man found in Kincaid Park Sunday.
In a text statement via Nixle around 12:30 p.m., police stated officers had responded to the park after a body was found and reported at 11:49 a.m.
“However, [the death] does not appear suspicious at this time,” police wrote.
APD Sgt. Todd Kearns, an officer investigating the body, said a Kincaid chalet employee found a man under a tree. Kearns said the medical examiner estimated he had been dead for several hours before he was found.
“The gentleman looked like he was here for eight to 12 hours under the tree by himself, and there’s nothing suspicious at this time,” he said. “Obviously, it’s still under investigation, but the medical examiner has taken him for further investigation.”
While a revolver was found in the man’s possession, there were no signs of foul play, according to Kearns, who added that there was no risk to the public’s safety.
This is a developing story; please check back for updates as they become available.
