ANCHORAGE – An Eastside Assembly candidate is promising he will work to get it right.

Mao Tosi said he made mistakes in reporting some of his campaign information, but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed. Tosi was served notice Tuesday that an Alaska Public Offices Complaint had been filed against him.

Anchorage resident John Lewis accused Tosi of 15 violations of campaign disclosure laws, including using his office as manager of the Northway Mall as a campaign headquarters.

Tosi said that is no longer the case and is working to correct other problems. The first-time candidate said any errors were honest mistakes, born of inexperience.

“Those are issues I think others have faced their first time running,” Tosi said. “ No one else has gone through the process smoothly, so for us, it’s a live and learn.”

Tosi has a hearing in front of the APOC Thursday afternoon. He could face fines if the complaints against him are ruled valid.
