Kathleen Plunkett is seeking her third term as Seat E on the Anchorage School Board.

Plunkett, who was born in Fairbanks and has lived in Anchorage for almost 50 years, says she’s been involved with many initiatives during her time on the board. One that she’s most proud of is ARISE — Anchorage Realizing Indigenous Student Excellence — a project “that’s to really help our Native children be successful,” she says.

“We’ve made some huge gains as we’ve moved forward with that initiative,” Plunkett says of ARISE. “I’ve been on that project, I think, from the very beginning…and really support it wholeheartedly.”

Plunkett says she’s seeking a third term to become further invested in the Anchorage community and its students.

“We have some great, outstanding students,” Plunkett said. “All of our students, I want them all to be successful in life.”

The 2015 Municipal Election will be held Tuesday, April 7.
