Alaska Air National Guard welcomes HC-130J Combat King II to fleet
The Alaska Air National Guard welcomed a brand new aircraft to its fleet Saturday.
The HC-130J Combat King II arrived at noon. Two F-22 Raptors intercepted the plane and escorted it home to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
The C-130 is used for search and rescue. It is the first of four new planes coming to Alaska, replacing older models. The Combat King II model features improved navigation, threat detection and countermeasures systems.
Air Guard members and their families got the chance to check out the new plane Saturday afternoon.
