Parnell is on the ballot
Gov. Sean Parnell made his re-election bid official Monday.
Parnell, joined by his wife Sandy, turned in his official paper work at the Alaska Division of Elections.
“I want to continue working for Alaskans and continue creating jobs for them,” he said.
He said the main focus of his campaign will be jobs and families.
Parnell pointed to his involvement in creating 20,000 Alaskan jobs as an example of what he did as governor.
“I want to continue that [job creation] with a gas line as well as with education opportunities for our kids,” Parnell said.
Securing the future for the future generations is another example he used.
“It’s why I led in taking care of that unfunded pension liability this year, paying down that debt so that our grandchildren don’t have to,” he said.
Parnell will face two other candidates in the primary election on Aug. 19.
