New Stuyahok man arrested for allegedly throwing elder off porch
A New Stuyahok man is in custody after he allegedly threw an elder off of a porch earlier this month, hurting the elder’s head and back.
Alaska State Troopers arrested 42-year-old Norton Konukpeok Friday after a two week-long investigation into the assault, which occurred on Oct. 13, according to an online dispatch.
Following the assault, Konukpeok also allegedly drove an all-terrain vehicle while intoxicated and came dangerously close to running a pedestrian over, troopers said.
Konukpeok faces charges of third- and fourth-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
Online court records show he was held under a bail of $1,000.
A previous assault conviction in 2015 resulted in a judgment that prohibits Konukpeok from consuming or possessing alcohol for four years, according to online court records.
The village of New Stuyahok is located northwest of Dillingham in Southwest Alaska.
