Juneau police are asking the public to help identify a woman who almost robbed the Douglas Breeze In grocery store Sunday morning.

The masked woman can be seen in images from store surveillance footage, holding what one employee says was a gun, according to police. They said she was first spotted around 8:05 a.m. and appeared to be planning to rob the grocery store, but stopped before threatening anyone.

An employee opening the store saw her and said she fled in a van, according to police. The van was later found abandoned on the 2700 block of John Street in Douglas. The van’s owner was not immediately reachable, according to police, who described the van as a fishing charter vehicle with “Chum Fun” printed on the side.

Anyone with information on the woman, the driver of the van or the attempted robbery is asked to call Juneau police at 907-586-0600.
