Nearly 12 hours after a robbery took place at a liquor store in Juneau, police say they were able to make an arrest, thanks to a tip.

Juneau Police say around 8:55 p.m. Monday, someone called in to report a robbery at Kenny’s Liquor store located at 619 Willoughby Avenue. The caller told police a man demanded money from the register and believed the suspect may have shown a gun. The robber took off on foot and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say they responded within minutes, but could not locate the suspect.

JPD says around 8:22 Tuesday morning, they received a tip that the suspect was driving a vehicle near Commercial Boulevard. Police say they responded and stopped the vehicle with the suspect, 35-year-old David Gene Hamilton, inside on Shaune Drive.

Hamilton was arrested for robbery in the first-degree and also for an outstanding failure to appear warrant for driving without a valid license.

His car was impounded and he was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center, held on no bail.
