Christy Marvin, 35, of Palmer, won the women’s race — making it a clean Alaska sweep in every category for the annual race. Marvin sprinted across the finish line in 51 minutes, 2 seconds surrounded by cheers from spectators in Seward.

 

She was followed by Yngvild Kaspersen and Denali Foldager-Strabel, who finished their races in 53 minutes, 23 seconds and 53 minutes, 40 seconds, respectively.

12:15 p.m. update

 

Anchorage man and race rookie David Norris, 25, on Monday beat a race record set last year by Kilian Jornet by almost 20 seconds. Norris made his way across the finish line in 41 minutes, 26 seconds.

 

Jornet’s previous was 41 minutes, 48 seconds.

 

Nick Elson, 32, of Squamish, BC, crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 43 minutes, 6 seconds. Eric Strable, 34, of Anchorage, came in third place with a time of 44 minutes, 19 seconds.

9:40 a.m. update

 

Juniors kicked off race day in Seward for the annual Fourth of July Mount Marathon mountain race. In the end, it would be 16-year-old Luke Jager, of Anchorage, who’d cross the finish line first. Jager finished the race in 27 minutes, 29 seconds.

 

Jager was followed by Hamish Wolfe and Trent Fritzel, both 17 and also of Anchorage. They completed their runs in 28 minutes, 1 second and 28 minutes, 49 seconds, respectively.

 

Molly Gellert, 16, was the first of the junior girls to cross the finish line. She did so in 31 minutes, 55 seconds. She was followed by Riana Boonstra, 15, of Ninilchik, who finished in 33 minutes, 11 seconds.
