Anyone who’s summited Mount Marathon knows: reaching the base, no matter how fast, is an accomplishment.

 

After climbing 3,022 vertical feet, runners descended down through snow, rocks, roots and mud, finally reaching ‘Victory Rock’ at the base of the mountain. Under perfect weather conditions Monday, hundreds of runners completed the grueling feat. Here’s a collection of some of the best victory poses at the base of the mountain.
