Musk ox momma, Avalanche, welcomed a calf Wednesday afternoon at The Musk Ox Farm in Palmer.

Around 3:45, workers at the Farm captured the new calf coming into the world. The staff gives the new calf and its mom a few hours to bond before they make contact. So, it’s not yet clear if the calf is male or female, and, because of that, the new calf has not yet been named.

Avalanche is not the only new mom today– Ellie gave birth to a healthy female, who has since been named Eider, earlier in the day Wednesday.

Recently, calves Maypie and Wren have been born at the farm, to mothers Jade and Poppy, respectively.

If you’d like to meet these sweet little calves, The Musk Ox Farm invites you to join them for their Mother’s Day picnic on May 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mothers enjoy free admission, while all others are by donation.
