NORTH POLE – For world champion carvers Steve and Heather Brice, it’s all about the ice.

Competing in the 7th annual Christmas in Ice carving exhibit in North Pole, the duo claimed first and second place in the single block competition. They said it’s a year-round job: Both Heather and Steve spend most of their time at the Chena Hot Springs Ice Museum, where they carve more than 15,000 ice martini glasses every year.

“It’s a really fast medium,” Heather Brice said. “There are endless capabilities that you can do with it. There’s no limit.”

The Christmas in Ice exhibit runs through Jan. 7 next to the Santa Claus House in North Pole.
