Travel Tuesday: Debunking travel myths
Daybreak’s travel guru wants to dispel some travel myths before residents book their next flight.
Scott McMurren joined Daybreak on the couch Tuesday morning with the low down.
First, there is no single “Golden Hour” during the day to get the best airfare. McMurren said every hour is a golden hour in today’s always-on marketplace. The lone exception is our very own Travel Tuesday fares on Alaska Airlines. Those fares appear on Tuesday and disappear on Thursday.
Today’s specials include:
- Anchorage to Reno, round trip: $400.
- Juneau/Ketchikan/Wrangell/Sitka to Reno, round trip: $400
- Fairbanks to Reno, round trip: $450
Second, the do-it-yourself approach isn’t always the best bet when planning a trip.
“I know, you haven’t been to travel school nor have you planned countless itineraries for thousands of travelers around the world, but those TV ads say it’s oh so simple,” said McMurren. “Here’s the trick, the airlines and online travel agencies want you to think that because travelers who book online spend more. And why is that you may ask? Because they don’t know what they’re doing.”
