Celebrating 25 years of trivia — the annual Big Wild Life Trivia Contest is challenging students to learn more about their state through some friendly competition — Jeopardy style. Today, students from eight schools are taking part in the trivia contest’s final round.

Julie Saupe with Visit Anchorage joined Daybreak to talk about the event and how it’s helping in the classroom.

“The contest fits in to the seventh-grade Alaska studies curriculum,” Saupe said. “Coming from Visit Anchorage, we focus on kind of the wonders of Anchorage, what there is to do, the history of Anchorage, and so that’s what the seventh-graders have been learning. We take a lot from our visitors guide, which we send to visitors when they’re discovering Anchorage and Alaska. And they pick it apart and learn part of it for their seventh-grade curriculum.”
