Municipal crews with the Anchorage Fire Department responded to a fire at Dondee’s Laundromat near the intersection of Northern Lights Boulevard and Minnesota Drive Thursday afternoon.

“We got the call at 12:48, and the fire was under control at 1:42,” said Anchorage fire chief, Denis LeBlanc. “It was a very quick, very fast knock down.”

The fire is believed to have started in a dryer vent, according to LeBlanc. The fire extended into the building’s attic and roof, but damage was minimal and contained mostly to one wall and part of the roof.

LeBlanc said 12 to 13 crews responded to original call.

The northbound lanes of Minnesota Drive were temporarily closed at 27th Avenue, according to a release from the Anchorage Police Department, but have since been reopened.
