The Anchorage Police Department says the car and child were found unharmed. The girl was with her mother at Tikahtnu Commons.
According to APD Capt. Bill Miller, the man was supposed to take a taxicab to a medical appointment, but instead ended up at Moose’s Tooth, a place he frequents with his daughter. Miller said the father suffered a blackout of some sort, and believed his daughter and the Toyota Rav4 had been with him but were then missing.
He contacted police, who learned after finding the girl, that she and the Rav4 had been with her mother for the day.
Miller said it was a good example of how the Nixle alert system can be helpful in similar situations.
“It was due to the alert public that saw the Nixle and had the heads up to call the police department, which is fantastic,” he said.

Anyone in that Anchorage area who has seen a gold 2009 Toyota RAV 4, with the license plate GNA906, is being urged to call police dispatch at 911 immediately.
The Anchorage Police Department says there is a 7-year-old girl inside of the vehicle, which was stolen around 2 p.m. According to APD chief Chris Tolley, the child’s parent went inside of Moose’s Tooth and left the vehicle running.
“We’re really looking for the public to help us locate this girl as quickly as possible,” Tolley said. “That’s our primary concern and once again, encouraging the public not to leave vehicles running unattended, particularly with children in those cars. It’s really becoming concerning.”
The child is described as 5 feet tall, 60 pounds, and wearing a purple jacket.
APD is investigating with the FBI. FBI spokesperson Staci Feger-Pellessier said the girl could also be inside of a 2011 blue Dodge 1500 pick-up, with the license plate JBB610, which law enforcement is also looking for.
This is a developing story; check back for updates.
