The downtown Anchorage summer concert series kicked off Wednesday in downtown Anchorage.

The Anchorage Downtown Partnership (ADP) hosts the weekly Music in the Park concert series at Peratrovich Park, Wednesdays at 12 p.m. The series features local and traveling bands.

Besides the music, the Anchorage Downtown Partnership also works to keep the area clean and safe. They have maintenance and safety ambassadors who walk around, pick up trash and act as a security presence. ADP marketing and sales coordinator Ashlee Schneider says they want people to want to go downtown.

“Other than just keeping downtown clean, safe and vital, Anchorage Downtown Partnership really is an advocate for the community and we really like to do things that bring the community together,” Schneider said.

Denise Hamilton is visiting from Idaho and decided to attend the concert with her family. She said she loved the atmosphere.

The Anchorage Downtown Partnership hosts three weekly concert series:

  • Music for Little Ones, Mondays at 12 p.m. in Peratovich Park

  • Music in the Park, Wednesday at 12 p.m. in Peratovich Park

  • Live After Five, Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Town Square Park.
