Los Angeles professionals show off hip-hop moves with Anchorage high school dancers
The company is performing in Anchorage this weekend for the public, but the group says they also love working with students to show them where their art can take them.
“A lot of the students see themselves in us and we want to be good role models and mentors toward them,” explained G’bari Gilliam, a dancer with Versa-Style Dance Company. “We don’t want to show a negative side of hip-hop and what we do, we want to show the positive side of it so they can see the positivity into it as well.”
The Versa-Style dancers will be performing Friday and Saturday at the Performing Arts Center. You can also catch them during the 9 a.m. Daybreak Thursday morning.
