Woman found dead inside vehicle identified

Cold weather is believed to have contributed to the death of 34-year-old Elaine Marie Cleveland

ANCHORAGE – A woman who was found dead inside a vehicle Thursday morning near downtown Anchorage has been identified as 34-year-old Elaine Marie Cleveland.

Cold weather is believed to have contributed to her death. No foul play is suspected at this time and her next of kin have been identified, according to a statement from police.

Medics declared Cleveland dead at the scene, authorities said. She was discovered in a Chevy van at the Alaska Professional Auto lot on Sixth Avenue after police were alerted shortly before 7:30 a.m.

Business owners in the area said they’re not surprised by the discovery, but it saddens them just the same.
