Currently, there is moderate weather activity over Alaska.  There is a Low pressure system over the Southeast causing snow showers in Cordova and Sitka. For the Anchorage Bowl, tonight expect pleasant mostly clear skies with temperatures dropping down to a low of –6 degrees for Muldoon and 4 degrees for Anchorage International Airport expect snow showers for Anchorage with increasing cloud cover throughout the day with high temperatures reaching into the high teens. By tomorrow, this Low will weaken and die out. Light showers will continue over the Southeast. Juneau residents will experience snow showers in the morning then isolated rain conditions in the afternoon with cloudy and dreary skies as temperatures rise to a warm 38 degrees. On and off again scattered snow showers with fog will fluctuate over Prudhoe Bay and 1-inch of snow accumulation. Fairbanks’ residents should be happy with sunshine on their shoulders! Fog will prevail in the morning then it will dissipate by the afternoon. The West will have mostly cloudy skies with a Wind Chill Advisory in Bethel for a skin-felt temperature of -40 degrees due to windy conditions. The Southwest will be getting intense winds, and over Unalaska winds with partly sunny skies. Cold Bay, Kodiak and Valdez will receive strong winds. Expect sunny skies for Kodiak and Valdez with snow showers and gray cloud cover. Kenai will be following suit with snow showers. Anticipate winds for Kachemak Bay and strong winds for Seward and Whittier. Snow flakes will fall over Wasilla and Palmer with partly sunny skies for all of the Matsu Valley. Winds will be shifting on Monday to the West Coast, Interior, and the south of the ALCAN boarder.

Anchorage for the rest of the week will be peaceful with mostly sunny skies on Monday, Tuesday will have increasing cloud cover. For the remainder of the week, you can expect partly sunny skies. By Friday, there will be light snow showers. Temperatures will increase gradually reaching above 30 degrees.

Don’t forget to set your clocks forward by one hour due to Daylight Savings Time (DST)...on Sunday morning at 2 AM AKST time shifts to 3 AM DST. Next Saturday, March 17th, will be St. Patrick’s Day! So, prepare for green beer, good times, and maybe a pot of gold at an end of a rainbow.
