We made it to the weekend, and for most of you its a three day. We have almost fallen into a routine, as temperatures still remain on the mild side.
Low pressure coming out of the Gulf continues to cause moisture throughout the P.W.S. along with portions of Seward today. That rain and snow will continue to brew throughout Seward today producing another 2-6 inches. Winds are expected to become more southerly which will increase the amount of snow showers for Anchorage and the Matanuska Valley. Snow will continue to be isolated as we head into tonight even lingering into tomorrow.
Today temperatures will be a tad bit lower sitting at the freezing mark with overnight lows falling to mid 20's. These daytime highs are currently twelve degrees above the normal for late February almost making it feel like early spring.
Warmer conditions will continue on Washington's Birthday, allowing you to have a pleasant day off, but unstable weather that could bring heavier amounts of snow may be touching down as we head into Tuesday for the Southcentral Gulf Coast areas.
The low centered in Bristol Bay will continue to produce light snow until mid afternoon today. That front will stretch down to the Alaska Peninsula bringing once again rain mixing with snow. Associated with that low will be gusty weather to 45 mph along the Alaska Peninsula.
The rest of the state will endure some more cloud coverage throughout the weekend, but fairly quiet conditions.
It may not be as much sunshine as we would like to see, but hey, it's going to be a mild 3 day weekend, with temperatures 12 degrees above normal, along with 9 hours 14 minutes of daylight, while Alaskans enjoy 106.7 inches of snow so far. That just seems PRICELESS!!
Have a great weekend Alaska.

our temps are not 12 degrees above avg. the avg high in anchorage for today is 27. we've been near 32 for the last 4 days. janessa is likely looking at nws temp for yesterday which reflects instrument error (said high 39..was actually 33...check with nws meteorologists) here's why this reporting is so lousy---if it WERE 12 degrees above avg, it would be near 40 and 40 is very different from 32 (a little thing called the freezing point of water). Get it right, Janessa. Please do your homework before you go on and on about something. It's just another unfortunate case of misinformation from a wanna-be meteorologist. I'll stick with NWS meteorologists (or at the least the more educated channel 2 forecasters)
