Warmth Surging Into The InteriorHere are some temperatures that were observed, courtesy of N.W.S. in Fairbanks,
Let's start off the week with mild weather spreading across the Interior, Alaska. Sunday afternoon we saw temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal in most areas.
Here are some temperatures that were observed, courtesy of N.W.S. in Fairbanks, across the interior through 6 pm yesterday: NORTH POLE/WOODSMOKE CO-OP...........60 EIELSON AFB..........................58 FT WAINWRIGHT........................58 DELTA JUNCTION.......................56* FAIRBANKS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT......57 DENALI NP HEADQUARTERS...............57 NENANA...............................54 EAGLE................................54 NORTHWAY.............................51 FT YUKON.............................46 TANANA...............................45 BETTLES..............................44 A high temperature of 56 degrees at Delta Junction broke the previous record high of 55 degrees set in 1965. Even in the Southwest communities temperatures continue to heat up with McGrath hitting 53 degrees yesterday, which beats the old record of 52 set in 1990. With a low that is moving throughout the Aleutians will see moisture entering coastal areas of the Southcentral producing rain. The great news is a subtropical flow is associated with this storm so things will stay nice a toasty around the Southcentral. Lower 50's will dominate the Southcentral region today, making things melt fairly quickly. Along with rain the roads may start to get wet and sloppy. In Anchorage that moisture isn't to much of a concern just more in the way of clouds. We have been getting hit with a nice dose of sunshine, however this week those clouds will tag along. An isolated rain shower could be in store as we head into lunch and into this evening. We'll start to see a reprieve as we head into Wednesday when that storm starts to track east into the Panhandle drying us out. If your in the Interior temperatures are expected to continue to average about 10 degrees above normal this week. Enjoy it!! |
