Yet another Low will push into the southern portion of the Southeast continuing the rainy conditions. The good weather news is it will stay to the south and allow Juneau to have a beautiful sunny day with few clouds and a warm high temperature of 44 degrees. Expect partly sunny skies with a few snow flurries, here and there, for the Interior with a high temperature of –21 degrees for Prudhoe Bay and 34 degrees for Fairbanks. Anticipate sunny skies with a thin layer of clouds for the northern portion of the West with a high temperature of 12 degrees for Nome. Bethel will have mostly cloudy weather on Sunday, plus winds, morning fog, and isolated snow showers throughout the day with a high temperature of 21 degrees. Also, Sunday will greet Unalaska residents with winds, partly sunny skies, and scattered snow showers. Kodiak residents will experience better weather with mostly sunny skies and a thin layer of clouds. High temperatures for the Southwest will be in the 30s. South Central will have high temperatures in the 30s to 50s with partly sunny skies for Prince William Sound, Kenai Peninsula, and Matsu Valley. Valdez will have isolated snow showers in the early morning. The Kenai Peninsula will experience scattered showers through the area, and the Matsu Valley will have morning snow flakes then isolated rain and snow showers throughout the day. Glennallen will have mostly sunny skies.
Very few Weather Watches/Warning/Advisories are listed for Alaska. St. Lawrence Island, Bering Strait Coast, and the Western Arctic Coast all have Wind Chill Advisories out. St. Lawrence Island and Bering Strait Coast will undergo a skin chilling –45 degrees and the Western Arctic Coast will sense –55 degrees.
Finally, precipitation will come to the Anchorage Bowl tonight. It will be mixed rain/snow showers, not expected to exceed 1-inch. Initially, tonight the showers will start as mixed, as temperatures drop below freezing, then it will turn to snow flakes and continue until the early morning. Tomorrow, isolated snow and rain showers will occur for the rest of the day. Low temperatures tonight will be in the 20s and high temperature for tomorrow will be in the 30s and 40s. For the remainder of the week, expect sunny skies with a few thin clouds until Tuesday, then mostly cloudy skies starting on Wednesday that continue for the rest of the week. High temperatures for the week will remain in the upper 30s and the low temperatures will stay in the low 20s. It’s a good week to enjoy the weather, but be extra-careful due to all the snow melting then freezing. These road conditions can lead to some hazardous driving, either slipping on ice or hydroplaning on water with your car. Remember safety comes first, so drive slowly and carefully…you just might save someone’s life. Also, don’t forget to vote in the Anchorage Municipal Elections on Tuesday! I wish everyone a wonderful weekend. |
