It’s a possibility for the Hillside.  We are going to get a chilly blast of air this weekend in south central.  The area of low pressure currently sitting over south central is going to be slow to move out of the region.  We will see the southeasterly onshore moisture flow continue on into Thursday, so not much more than a few isolated rain showers will affect Anchorage.  The bulk of the rain will again be over the Prince William Sound and the eastern side of the Kenai Peninsula.  Friday the moisture flow will change and rain will become more widespread throughout the region.  Friday night colder air out of the northwest will begin to settle into the region.  As this colder air settles in we will see snow levels drop.  They are currently in the 4,000 to 5,000 foot range.  But by Saturday they could drop down to the 1,000 to 2,000 foot levels.  We will still have some moisture in place on Saturday.  We will still likely see rain showers in the Anchorage Bowl, but up on the Hillside it’s very likely Friday night and Saturday you could see a rain/snow mix.  Maybe even just snow at the higher elevations.  You’ve been warned.

7 Day Forecast For Anchorage

Overnight will be cloudy with showers over south and west Anchorage.  Lows will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s.  Thursday will be mostly cloudy with isolated showers and highs near 50.  Friday we will see rain with highs in the low to mid 40s.  Saturday we will see mostly cloudy skies with rain showers in the Bowl and rain & snow showers on the Hillside.  Highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.  Sunday we will see decreasing cloudiness with highs in the low to mid 40s.  Monday through Wednesday skies will be mostly to partly sunny with highs in the mid 40s.
