Hang in there. It’s going to begin to warm up slightly for the southern half of the state this weekend. Northern Alaska. As they say in the aviation business, you are in a “holding pattern." No big changes in store for you through next week. That means continued frigid and dry conditions. This weekend will begin to see a more southerly flow returning to much of the southern half of the state. From the southwest, into Southcentral, and also in the southeast that will mean warmer temperatures and a chance of snow and rain for much of southern Alaska.

Overnight will be clear and cold with areas of fog. Lows will range from –10 to –20 degrees. Friday we could see a little fog in the morning giving way to partly cloudy skies and highs of –5 to 5 degrees. Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs near 5. Sunday will be partly cloudy with highs in the lower teens. Monday through Wednesday skies will be mostly cloudy with snow showers possible and highs of 15 to 20. Thursday will be mostly to partly cloudy with highs in the teens.
