October 2012 climate numbers for Anchorage, Annette, Barrow, Bethel, Cold Bay, Fairbanks, Juneau, King Salmon, Kodiak, Kotzebue, McGrath, Nome, St. Paul, Valdez, & Yakutat.  These numbers were compiled from data from the National Weather Service.

Anchorage -  for the month Anchorage had an average high of  39.6 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 40.6 degrees.  As for snow 3.2’’ fell.  The average snowfall in October is 7.9’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Anchorage saw 2.70’’.  The average for the month is 2.03’’.  No daily record highs or lows were recorded for the month. 

Annette -  for the month Annette had an average high of 50.9 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 51.7 degrees.  As for snow a trace fell.  The average snowfall in October is 0.1’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Annette saw 5.44’’.  The average for the month is 13.92’’.  Three daily record highs were recorded.  On Oct. 6th it hit 68 degrees, on Oct. 7th it hit 69 degrees, and on Oct. 8th it hit 63 degrees.  Six daily record lows were also recorded.  On Oct. 18th it dipped to 32 degrees, on Oct. 19th  it dipped to 31 degrees, on Oct. 23rd it dipped to 32 degrees, on Oct. 24th it dipped to 28 degrees, on Oct 26th it dipped to 26 degrees, and on Oct. 27th it dipped to 25 degrees.  

Barrow -  for the month Barrow had an average high of 31.9 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 21.8 degrees.  As for snow 12.8’’ fell.  The average snowfall in October is 9.1’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Barrow saw 0.98’’.  The average for the month is 0.41’’.  Two daily record highs were recorded.  On Oct. 5th it hit 41 degrees and on Oct. 6th it hit 38 degrees.  No daily record lows were recorded for the month. 

Bethel -  for the month Bethel had an average high of 36.9 degrees. The normal average high for the month is 35.8 degrees.  As for snow 0.4’’ fell.  The average snowfall in October is 4.4’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Bethel saw 2.19’’.  The average for the month is 1.65’’.  No daily record highs or lows were recorded for the month.

Cold Bay-  for the month Cold Bay had an average high of 45.6 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 45.5 degrees.  As for snow 1.0’’ fell.  The average snowfall in October is 2.4’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Cold Bay saw 4.72’’.  The average for the month is 4.76’’.  Two daily record highs were recorded.  On Oct. 9th it hit 60 degrees and on Oct. 10th it hit 57 degrees.   No daily record lows were recorded.    

Fairbanks-  for the month Fairbanks had an average high of 30.3 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 31.9 degrees.  As for snow 7.1’’ fell.  The average snowfall in October is 10.8’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Fairbanks saw 1.40’’.  The average for the month is 0.83’’.  No daily record highs or lows were recorded for the month.
