May 2012 climate numbers for Anchorage, Annette, Barrow, Bethel, Cold Bay, Fairbanks, Juneau, King Salmon, Kodiak, Kotzebue, McGrath, Nome, St. Paul, Valdez, & Yakutat.  These numbers were compiled from data from the National Weather Service.

Anchorage -  for the month Anchorage had an average high of  53.5 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 56.1 degrees.  As for snow 0.0’’ fell.  The average snowfall in May is 0.3’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Anchorage saw 0.43’’.  The average for the month is 0.72’’.  A daily record low was recorded on May 16th when it dipped to 31 degrees.  No daily record highs were recorded for the month. 

Annette -  for the month Annette had an average high of 52.2 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 56.3 degrees.  As for snow 0.0’’ fell.  The average snowfall in May is 0.1’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Annette saw 10.20’’.  The average for the month is 5.56’’.  No daily record lows or highs were recorded.  

Barrow -  for the month Barrow had an average high of 25.7 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 25.7 degrees.  As for snow 5.5’’ fell.  The average snowfall in May is 2.7’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Barrow saw 0.50’’.  The average for the month is 0.18’’.  No daily record lows or highs were recorded for the month. 

Bethel -  for the month Bethel had an average high of 48.5 degrees. The normal average high for the month is 50.6 degrees.  As for snow 2.6’’ fell.  The average snowfall in May is 2.1’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Bethel saw 0.48’’.  The average for the month is 1.14’’.  No daily record highs or lows were recorded for the month.

Cold Bay-  for the month Cold Bay had an average high of 41.6 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 45.6 degrees.  As for snow 4.6’’ fell.  The average snowfall in May is 1.3’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Cold Bay saw 1.51’’.  The average for the month is 2.60’’.  Three daily record lows were recorded for the month.  On May 12th it dipped to 24 degrees, on May 13th it dipped to 18 degrees, and on May 14th it dipped to 20 degrees.   No daily record highs were recorded. 

Fairbanks-  for the month Fairbanks had an average high of 59.2 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 61.0 degrees.  As for snow a trace fell.  The average snowfall in May is 0.9’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Fairbanks saw 0.73’’.  The average for the month is 0.60’’.  No daily record highs or lows were recorded for the month. 

Juneau -  for the month Juneau had an average high of 48.9 degrees.  The normal average high for the month is 56.6 degrees.  As for snow a trace fell.  The average snowfall in May is 0.0’’.  As for total precipitation (rain and melted snow) Juneau saw 5.73’’.  The average for the month is 3.40’’.  Three daily record highs were recorded for the month.  No daily record highs or lows were recorded for the month.
