After a few days of dismal clouds and wet weather most Alaskans are ready to trade in the rain boots for flip flops. And it can’t happen soon enough! Even tonight the sun is beginning to break through the clouds as temperatures soar into the mid and upper 60’s. Tomorrow most spots in the Southcentral region (Anchorage), along the Kenai Peninsula (Seward, Girdwood, Kenai/Soldotna), and Prince William Sound, will feel the warmth of 70’s once again. Now that’s truly what many people await all summer long… even if it is on a weekday. To make things even better sunshine will also return. The only thing better than sun and warmth is the having the time to dipnet on the mighty Kenai! That clearly won’t be me, but if it’s you, Good Luck! And please feel free to share your bounty!
Otherwise, surfs up! The cool, rainy, windy weather will continue along the West Coast, with the windiest and rainiest weather along the Seward Peninsula. There is also a high surf advisory for the Southern Seward Peninsula (including Nome).
Numerous showers will also continue over the Copper River Basin and parts of the Interior for the next few days as daytime heating keeps a trough overhead.
The sun is temporarily sneaking back in over the Alaska Peninsula, but it won’t last long. So if you’re in Unalaska, Cold Bay, or Dillingham, get ready!
And last but certainly not least is the weather for the Southeast Panhandle. I regret to say rain is headed your way. But let’s be honest…. that’s nothing knew to you. And you’re probably welcoming it at this point. Afterall, you’ve been spoiled for many days now with sunshine and temperatures into the 70’s and even 80’s!! So brace for a cool down! |
