The Southcentral coastal regions are preparing for widespread rain and snow today, along with portions of the Alaska Peninsula and Southwest. We have low pressure continuing to drive north where the Upper Kuskokwim Valley will see light snow today, but things will die down as it tracks right into the Southcentral.

The Prince William Sound will be most effected by this system where rain an snow will mix throughout the day, then changing to snow tonight with another 1 to 5 inches in accumulation. This snow will continue to be heavy throughout tonight and will start to taper off tomorrow. Valdez and Western Kenai will be affected by this system, even bringing a dose of heavy winds to Kachemak Bay and Portage Valley throughout the afternoon with gust to 45 mph.

From the radar images it doesn't look like this system will spill over much into the Anchorage or Matanuska Valley to much. Light flurries throughout the day into Tuesday, but little to no accumulation should be expected. Winds for the Upper Elevations and Turnagain Arm will die down by afternoon, allowing us to go into tonight with more cloud coverage and temperatures in the lower 20's.

This will be the theme for the last full week of February. Clouds, clouds, and more clouds. The great news is temperatures are slightly above normal, allowing us to enjoy the rest of the month. Late into the week and just in time for Fur Rondy 2012, we will start to see high pressure build in, allowing us to see partly sunny conditions.

All in all it's a holiday, so don't let a few clouds spoil your day.
