The month of February has been much milder thus far for much of Alaska. We’re really not expecting any big changes for the remainder of the week. In south central we will see clouds returning to the region overnight. However, unlike past storms that have brought large amounts of snow this next round of moisture looks to be a bit wetter. Around the Prince William Sound and eastern and southern Kenai Peninsula we will see rain and rain/snow mix at the lower elevations with snow in the mountains. The onshore moisture flow with this system will be out of the southeast so little, if any, moisture will found from the western Kenai Peninsula, into the Anchorage Bowl, and the Matanuska Valley. It will also get windy across the Hillside and Turnagain Arm and those winds will warm things up even more in Anchorage. The clouds will likely stick around for the rest of the week. In the southeast rain will return for tomorrow and you should see a damp finish to the work week. Out west things will remain mild. The weather will be pretty quiet tomorrow, but you could see some clouds and showers returning later in the week. In the Interior the milder weather will also stick around with mostly cloudy skies the next few days.
7 Day Forecast For Anchorage
Overnight we will see increasing cloudiness towards morning with lows in the teens and 20s. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with an isolated rain shower possible. It will be windy on the Hillside and along the Turnagain Arm with winds of 40 to 55 MPH possible. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s. Thursday the winds will diminish on the Hillside and Arm with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 30s. Friday will again be mostly cloudy with a chance of a few snow showers and highs near 32.
Saturday through Tuesday we will have mostly to partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 30s.
