With high pressure taking over the state, most of the Great Land is seeing an abundance of sunshine with few clouds. Warmer than usual temperatures have taken over, leaving us spoiled with great weather.

Some of the gulf coast areas are seeing much of the same with a few clouds and little precipitation. These ideal conditions will last through today for the Anchorage area so enjoy it while it's here. We will start to see that shift starting on Wednesday as another low starts to move onshore from the North Pacific.

This low will bring rain and snow to the coastal area of Southcentral, along with gusty conditions for higher elevations and Turnagain Arm. This front has already started to move into Kodiak Island today, where rain and strong winds are starting to take over. This low will stick around through Southcentral for the next couple of days.

In Southwest Alaska we are seeing a slightly different weather pattern because of a southerly flow. Temperatures as well have been above normal for the last couple of days, however the ridge of high pressure continues to cause gusty winds. Precipitation has remained light, because most of the moisture is moving into the Alaska Peninsula.

The Peninsula will see this low drop down tonight, causing blizzard warnings throughout the chain, even reducing visibility down to a quarter of mile due to heavy snow. These conditions will persist until morning.

Anchorage, it is vital you enjoy the sunshine today, as more cloud coverage will start to move in by morning. The great news is temperatures will remain in the upper 30s tomorrow almost flirting with the 40s. By Friday we'll start off the weekend with those clouds breaking apart along with daytime highs in the lower 30s.

Have a great day AK!
