What a week, with rain, clouds and now sun. This is just how we like to start off holiday weekends, with 19 hours 13 minutes of pure sunshine for your Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. It's vital you get out and enjoy the short but sweet sunshine.

The upper level low over Southeast Alaska will slowly move out of the Gulf of Alaska in the next few days. Another weak ridge of high pressure will build over Southcentral tonight into tomorrow afternoon, allowing us to be graced with sunny skies. However, this weak ridge of high pressure will be pushed out late tomorrow evening, allowing scattered rain to hit most areas of Southcentral. This low pressure will stay in place for our Sunday and into the start of next week.

The good news about this short sunshine spell we are experiencing today is that temperatures will bounce back into the lower 60s. The Matanuska-Susitna Valley will get a dose of the upper 60s to lower 70s for Talkeetna and Willow. A partly cloudy afternoon will be in the works for the Anchorage area for Saturday before turning into mostly cloudy conditions with possible late night showers.

Around the Southwest communities low pressure continues to brew around coastal areas. Bethel will see light showers before this system falls apart. It doesn't have much strength so it will dissipate before affecting areas of the Southwest. The Interior will see light showers throughout the weekend, and the North Slope will stay foggy but dry.

It should be a wonderful weekend to enjoy the great outdoors, at least for your Saturday afternoon. Then by Sunday let's enjoy a nice book inside.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend Alaska!
