Weather
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!We currently have a large blocking high in place to the northwest over Russia. We currently have a large blocking high in place to the northwest over Russia. It’s “blocking” because it’s blocking any weather from moving into the state. This pattern looks to continue for much of Alaska into at least the first half of the weekend. So that means through Saturday most of the state will see dry sunny conditions with below normal temperatures. By Sunday and Monday though we will begin to see a pattern change for the southeast and south central. The blocking high will continue to drift to the northwest allowing warmer temperatures and some snow to return to the southeast and south central early next week. Out west and into the northern half of the state the wait will likely be a bit longer for some warmer temperatures. 7 Day Forecast For Anchorage Overnight will be clear and cold with areas of patchy fog. Lows will range from –5 in west Anchorage to as low as –25 in east Anchorage. Wednesday through Friday we will have a little patch fog in the morning giving way to sunshine with highs in the single digits. Saturday skies will be partly cloudy with highs near 5 above. Sunday clouds will return and we could begin to see some snow late in the day with highs in the single digits. Monday and Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with snow showers and highs of 10 to 15 degrees. |
