We have an URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY in effect for the Anchorage area until 8:45 AM Wednesday and we also have the same type of advisory in effect for the Eastern Kenai Peninsula and the Prince William Sound.  This advisory means that rivers and streams have risen and that ponding on roadways is or may occur.

We also have have a HIGH WIND WARNING in effect until 10 AM Wednesday for the higher elevations around Anchorage, along the Turnagain Arm, and Portage Valley.  Wind gusts overnight could reach 75 to 80 MPH.  A HIGH WIND WARNING means a hazardous high wind event is occurring or will occur.

We have a big storm system moving through south central Alaska as we speak.  It's bringing with it lots of wind and rain.  The rain will taper off to showers tomorrow and the winds will diminish throughout the day Wednesday.  But another system moves in Thursday.  This one shouldn't bring as much wind, but we could once again see quite a bit of rain.  The nicest weather around the state tomorrow will be in the southeast as they will have mostly to partly cloudy skies.  Out west another system moves onshore bringing rain back into the picture.  Into the Interior skies will stay gray, but nothing more than a hit or miss shower is expected.

7 Day Forecast For Anchorage

Overnight we will have rain at times with windy conditions on the Hillside and along the Turnagain Arm.  Lows will be 50 to 55.  Wednesday winds will be diminishing on the Hillside and along the Turnagain Arm with cloudy skies and showers possible.  Highs will be 60 to 65.  Thursday the rain will return with highs near 60.  Friday through Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with showers possible and highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
