Wasilla mother arrested for infant assault

By KTVA CBS 11 News 11:28 AM July 10, 2014
PALMER –

A Wasilla teenager faces multiple domestic violence assault charges after her 5-week-old baby was hospitalized with leg burns more than a month ago.

Alaska State Troopers said 18-year-old Sky D. Stone was arrested July 7 on two counts of second-degree assault and one count of third-degree assault. Stone’s infant son was admitted to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center with burned legs in late May, but court documents claim the injuries were actually caused several days prior to that.

According to an indictment filed in Palmer District Court, Stone is accused of using a “dangerous instrument” to intentionally harm the 5-week-old infant May 25. She took the baby to the hospital two days later.

Stone’s next court appearance is set for August 22.
